What is Base Metal?

Base metal is composed of alloys of non-precious metals, usually copper, bronze, nickel and/or tin. It can be plated with sterling silver or gold. There is nothing wrong with using base metals, unless you have an allergy to it. If you have an allergy to base metal, it is because you are allergic to one of its components. If that is the case, you may have to consider using sterling or gold-filled wire or metal.
