Stop beads do exactly what it sounds like – stop the other beads from slipping off the stringing materials. Stop beads are used in seed bead weaving and some knotting projects, not with bead wire. (You can use a special coil product or a piece of masking tape with bead wire). To form a stop bead, take your needle through the thread and pull to the end, leaving about 3″ of thread. Bring your needle back around, forming a circle or an “O” around the bead. Go through the bead again in the same direction you did the first time. Pull the thread all the way through. Your bead will now stay in place and you can continue adding the rest of your beads.
